Summer holidays in the Dolomites of Alta Badia

A diverse range of hikes, via ferratas, mountain bike tours and golf courses await discovery in Corvara.

Flowering Alpine meadows, clear mountain air and sunny days define summer in Alta Badia. In Corvara, many adventures begin right on your doorstep – be it a hike, a via ferrata, or a bike tour. The trails are varied, the views expansive, and every day offers new impressions amidst the Dolomites. Anyone spending time outdoors here will quickly feel how effortless summer can be.

Hiking
Gentle meadow paths, panoramic high-altitude trails and well-marked routes lead into the Puez-Odle Natural Park and onto the plateaus around Pralongià, Piz La Ila and Piz Boè. There are easy routes with little ascent for families, while more challenging day tours take experienced hikers to higher altitudes. Many tours can be shortened using the summer cable cars – turning a long hike into a pleasant half-day excursion with breathtaking panoramic views. The paths are well marked, and numerous mountain huts invite you to stop for a welcome rest and refreshment. Alta Badia is a landscape defined by its vastness, tranquillity and pristine nature, constantly revealing new perspectives as you hike.
Climbing
Those who climb in Alta Badia aren't looking for dramatic displays, but for an honest connection with real rock. The Dolomites around Corvara offer ideal conditions for this, from family-friendly climbing areas to airy multi-pitch routes on peaks like Sassongher or the Sella group. The region's via ferratas are also well developed and offer plenty of variety. The Piz da Lech, the popular Pisciadù via ferrata and the Brigata Tridentina demand skill, reward you with stunning views, and create lasting memories. Dolomite rock is known for being dry and providing excellent grip. Many approaches are accessible via a short ascent or directly from the valley. And once you reach the top, you quickly realise it's not the difficulty level that counts, but the sheer feeling of accomplishment.
Mountain biking
By bike, you can experience the Dolomites with steady climbs on scenic pass roads, technical trails or gentle rides across the wide plateaus around Pralongià. A particular highlight is the Sellaronda MTB Tour: a challenging circular route around the entire Sella massif. Thanks to cable cars offering bike transport, even longer distances can be covered efficiently. Depending on your fitness level, the tour can be completed in a single day or in stages.
Those who prefer a more leisurely pace will also find ideal conditions here. Wide paths, little traffic and stunning views make the area around Corvara the perfect place for relaxed rides. And if you prefer going downhill rather than uphill, simply take a cable car and save your energy for admiring the panorama. The region offers well-signposted trails, local e-bike hire and a wide selection of tour suggestions to suit all abilities.
Golf
At the foot of the Sella massif, towards the Campolongo Pass and just a few minutes from Corvara, lies the Alta Badia Golf Club, one of Europe's highest nine-hole golf courses. At an altitude of 1,700 metres, you can play here amidst unspoilt nature with views of the Sassongher peak and the imposing Dolomites. Beginners can learn their first swings under professional guidance, while advanced players can put their skills to the test. The facility includes a clubhouse, a driving range with eight bays (three of which are covered), practice areas such as a pitching and chipping green, and a bunker area. Clubs, trolleys and carts can be conveniently hired. The Alta Badia golf course is open from early June to mid-October.
Movimënt Park
What at first glance looks like an adventure playground for all generations is actually an innovative leisure concept at over 2,000 metres above sea level, on the sunny plateaus of Piz La Ila, Piz Sorega and Pralongià. The Movimënt Park combines nature, movement and playful experiences: with barefoot paths, climbing elements, balancing sections, Kneipp hydrotherapy zones and spacious viewing terraces. It also includes e-bike and running routes, as well as themed hiking trails. Thanks to the gently rolling landscape, the paths are also excellent for running and Nordic walking. In winter, parts of the park transform into a snow park with jumps, slalom elements and fun lines for sporting variety on skis or snowboards.
