Skiing
The ski bus stops very close to our house and will take you to the Alta Badia ski area lifts in just a few minutes. After a day on the slopes, the run back to the valley leads right to your doorstep; skiing could hardly be more convenient. The area is part of Dolomiti Superski, the largest ski area in the world, with over 1,200 kilometres of pistes. Particularly famous is the Sellaronda, a ski circuit around the Sella massif, which can be skied in both directions and starts directly from Corvara. For leisure skiers, Alta Badia offers wide, perfectly groomed slopes in sunny locations with breathtaking panoramic views. More ambitious skiers will find challenging descents, such as the Gran Risa World Cup run in La Villa. Ski schools, modern lifts and cosy mountain huts complete the skiing experience – whether you're on skis for the first time or have been skiing for years.

Cross-country skiing
Would you prefer to experience winter in perfect tranquillity? Then cross-country skiing in Alta Badia is just the thing for you. In Corvara, the trail starts right at the entrance to the village and winds in several loops through the snow-covered valley. The perfectly groomed, sunny trail is ideal for beginners and leisure skiers, but also offers experienced cross-country skiers space for speed and technique. Just a few kilometres away is the Armentarola cross-country skiing centre near San Cassiano, which boasts an extensive network of trails through the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park. Cross-country skiing is the perfect way to move consciously and switch off, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Cross-country skiing knows no age limits and offers a winter experience in its most peaceful, and perhaps most beautiful, form.
Tobogganing
Those who like things cosy and family-friendly will find tobogganing in Alta Badia a welcome change from the everyday ski routine. While Corvara itself doesn't have its own toboggan run, several easily accessible tracks await in neighbouring villages, such as the natural toboggan run in San Cassiano. It's easily reached with the Piz Sorega cable car and winds for over three kilometres through the forest back down to the valley. Speedy or leisurely, depending on your mood and age. Toboggans can be hired straight from the valley station. Wide winter paths on the Pralongià plateau also invite you for short toboggan rides, often combined with a stop at a mountain hut. Especially for families, tobogganing is a winter experience that combines exercise, nature and fun for children.
Snowshoeing
If you venture out on snowshoes, you'll enjoy winter in its most tranquil form. Step by step, you'll make your way through snow-covered forests up to viewpoints away from the busy slopes. Guided tours start regularly in Corvara or San Cassiano and lead, among other places, to the Pralongià plateau, the Ütia de Bioch hut, or into the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park. With a map or good local knowledge, you can also explore the landscape independently. Snowshoeing doesn't require any special technique, just a bit of stamina, the right equipment and a willingness to embrace the slower pace of winter. Your reward: vastness, silence and entirely new perspectives on the Dolomites.
